WHAT IS A GICLEE PRINT?

(Pronounced “Gee -  clay”)

These giclee prints are digital reproductions of my original paintings.

Giclee is a French term that means “fine spray,” or “to squirt.” That is what the archival, lab tested inks do when they coat the canvas with pigment.   The printer for these giclees is a high end, large format ink jet printer, and the special canvas used is meant for giclee reproductions.      The inks have been lab tested to withstand normal home lighting conditions for anywhere from sixty to two hundred years before showing any signs of fading.

Once I receive the image on a soft piece of canvas, I stretch it on stretcher bars, and seal the image to protect it.   The giclee is finally ready for framing and your enjoyment!
